spring is a flirtatious vixen
eager to sow her precious seeds
& experience a world barely awakening
she dares burst forth
...so full of life...
while snow still blankets the earth
coy little crocuses shoving impatiently through
splashes of purples...yellows...& blues
exuberant & anxious to show her potential
she flaunts her prominent belly
glowing with her fertile beauty
as she births flora & fauna alike
a new year has been born
with all her children gathered at her feet
decadently spawning every color & hue
each bearing the sweetness of her breath
wafting across a lilac scented breeze
intoxicating in the extreme
her progeny scattered far & wide
her enthusiasm contagious
making me excited to be alive
strewing the dance floor with scented petals
blowing kisses to winter in a fond farewell
brushing off the darkened chill
settling in
