Veiled Beauty

It's hardly seen by those who hurry past,
Oblivious to the wonders that outlast,
Beneath the layers of the forest floor,
Where secrets lie, awaiting to explore.

It’s barely held in reverence, I tell,
Except by hearts that with nature's pulse dwell,
They march with care upon the mossy ground,
Where the earth's song can be found.

I wager it could scarce maintain its form,
Against the winds that rage, against the storm,
Beneath the feet of those who pass it by,
Their gaze averted, to the earth they spy.

But see it now, with prasine mane flaunted,
Defiant against the winds that once distressed,
Its sturdy dun trunk, a sentinel so tall,
Resisting all who dare to see it fall.

Oh! How the balance shifts, how fortunes’ tides change,
From lowly earth, to skies of boundless range,
Beyond our sight, above our mortal plane,
It stands, amidst the clouds and gentle rain.

My fervent hope resides in sapling's heart,
That it may glimpse the wondrous fate that is set,
Amidst the soil and all that vexed its path,
A future bright, awaits it, steadfast.
