The Comet And The Phoenix
Have you ever witnessed a comet?
Hurtling across an onyx sky?
Out-shining billions
of stars and galaxies
quilting the heavens,
knowing where she came from,
unsure of her terminus,
relentless in her trajectory.
Her luminous train fluidic
as a space-dust wedding dress;
Shedding encumbrances
imposed for an age,
the beauty of her tragedy,
hugged as the corona
of a fading sun.
During the precipice of her decent,
crashing through the ozone
of an alien world,
impacting its surface
with awe-inspiring cacophony,
the endeavors of despondencies
one last time attempt to
smite her once futile, raging,
surface as simultaneously they
burn and fade into silence,
drowning with internal rupture.
The defining moment ensues:
Loping at first.
Giving way to uniqueness
and comprehension.
Unsure of this new world
where the abyss now lies
beyond the soaring azure skies…
She is the phoenix;
no longer torn between
transcending the self
and warring the shadows
of demons alone.
Feathers light on freedoms winds,
life’s flavor sweet as honey, drank
from an orchid of self-worth,
grown
under
a
new
dawn
of
forever.
