When we meet

I sat to wonder.

When we meet
will I get a peck
on my cheek?
or will it linger
instead
on my lips
for days
and weeks?

When we meet
will your eyes
twinkle
to see me?
your lips
tingle
from the burn
of my heat?

When we meet
will it trickle
down?
or can you hide
the gushes
of the tide
on the side
of the street?

When we meet
shall I greet you
out there?
or wait
in the back?
open your door,
slip you in,
let you out
of my heart
or kneel beneath
your feet?

When we meet
will you remove
your dress?
will I confess
my love?
bequeath
my life
as long as it beats?

When we meet
Will you shed
your Reds?
flutter them
in bed?
can my heart
survive the haste
of your behests?

When we meet
will our sheets
be damp
from sweat?
or will my life
be cold,
like winter trees
growing old
shedding their
dying leaves?

As I sat to wonder,
I knew,
we were never meant
to meet.
