Just once, and then we can forget.

Do you remember me?
Have you noticed I've gone?
Is my room cold and empty?
Have you checked?

I know I'm not what you dreamed of.
But I break my skin each day,
hoping you'll ask me to stay.

I try to say its mutual,
but when I'm sick and alone,
your number is the only one in my phone.

I'm not what you wanted,
but I hope one day you'll be okay with that.
Be okay with me.

'Cause I've tried to change for you.
I've tasted silence,
with its quiet flavor of obedience.

I am tired now.
My body aches,
my mind is bruised.

I hope you miss me.
I think I miss you.

Mom, can you hold me?
