Hesperian Allure!
All clear last night, yet, in the southeast
the moon loafed over horizon puffs
as far flung as eldritch cottonwood fluffs
or dragon breath the Atlantides released
in apple garden exhalation mode
to glow as gold as the gibbous is thick
as satisfaction for the lunatic
wearied of the light emitting diode.
You see, lunatics know which light is best
and which hue most rewards the midnight eye
when mytho-scanning from east to west
all the aesthetics of a moonlit sky...
which Hesperus had long ago addressed
when she taught Luna to...transmogrify!

Re: Re. Hesperian Allure!
That's a magnificent compliment, but I'm basically a classicist wannabe, who struggles just to learn enough to get it to cram into a poem. There's a lot of scatterbrain going on in this head.
I started learning Greek on Duolingo though,
and so I'm still gonna hang onto that compliment.
You are a rare treat 😉

Re: Re. Hesperian Allure!
I often think of poetry as an instinctive desire to explore the linguistic possibilities of solace, which will naturally be a bit different for each individual, with a lot of overlap on universal issues.
I certainly see that going on with your work, and am always intrigued to see where you will take things next.
I rely a lot on classical western mythologic influences, but it would be really awesome to see folks explore poetics with all sorts of alternative cultural touchstones, whatever they may be.
There's so much room for growth in poetry that it can't help but be a continuously optimistic endeavor for me:)

Dear MS,
Two for one! The best type of learning for me. I knew nothing about Hesperus and I love being drawn in by writings of the moon. Most enjoyable write. Lovely imagery and great presentation. H🌷

I've run into the idea before, of the moon as a shape shifter due to her phases, but I can't remember where or when for the life of me.
It always amazes me how classical allusions continue to have their cultural sway after so many generations, and long after their curricular discontinuance in public schools.

Thanks!
I finally got to use the word..."transmogrify".
It's the small victories like that which do so much for the soul:)

I enjoy poetry about mythical gods, as I always learn something new! There’s an elegance in this write befitting the gods.

I'm delighted you liked it!
You don't have to be a true believer to develop a high regard for the aspirational characteristics of afflatus brainwaves, or for edificatory language.
The old Greek pantheon still gives a lot of bang for that buck...
at least for me:)
