Columbia Tech Center

Viewed from one parking lot to another
and straight out through my windshield,
north to south, increasingly distant,
are the lot curb, swale strip, then the shrubs
in their perfectly bark dusted row
all along the immaculate sidewalk
before the arboreal street light strip
betwixt said sidewalk and the bike lane
next the west bound lanes of ceaseless traffic
split by median concrete in east bound lanes
and then their own bike lane, streetlight,
and immaculate sidewalk stratum...

before a tier of short coniferous hedge
in segue to cars parked in the lot beyond
with its half dozen lot sized trees in bloom...
and all of it, everything...subservient...

to four stoic geometric stories of
battleship gray, and sterile window glass
of unsullied corporate Death Star real estate,

with only a spring day to cheer it up.
