Barbie
She looked just
Like a Barbie doll
Platinum hair
Pulled back
In a long ponytail
All dolled up
In her beach going
Clothes
Proudly flaunting
Her big Barbie boobs
Sadly, she was
As plastic
As they come
Like a Barbie doll
Platinum hair
Pulled back
In a long ponytail
All dolled up
In her beach going
Clothes
Proudly flaunting
Her big Barbie boobs
Sadly, she was
As plastic
As they come

A sharp and concise critique of superficiality and artificiality. your ink portrays a woman who resembles a Barbie doll with her platinum hair, fashionable attire, and emphasized physical features. it delivers a thought-provoking commentary on the limitations of appearances and the importance of inner qualities.

I can't argue with that because we all have feelings but here my focus was on how looks aren't everything. I welcome honesty with all my heart. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

You’ve captured the essence of the unrealistic beauty standards we all face. At some point vanity becomes a facade, a mask that hides the true beauty within.

As tragic as it is poignant. You e really spoken to what it means to be plastic. Outstanding poetry.

Dear F,
Excellent commentary on societal and human response to physical beauty. Seems most only want to be and know the shiny people. Deep diving into the substance of the real person for me, is so much more gratifying and meaningful and I love that message underlying in your write. H🌷

I think it perhaps gets complicated...
In the sense where
no one can help how they look...
&...
So much is potentially
determined, based upon looks...
Then...
Human tendency
to categorize and generalize...
It is, of course, maybe natural...
The whole thing...
From the perceiver to the perceived...
Along with the surface
meeting with that which lies beneath the surface...
I was thinking of this the other day...
Like...
The beautiful people...
I mean...
I guess I will never be one of the beautiful people...
But...
I think they are lacking...
But then...
I am prejudging...
Categorizing and generalizing...
I was also thinking...
How...
In the same way no one gets
out of here alive...
Maybe "the beautiful people"
too, get fucked up...
But I do think it is possible
that some have a charmed life...
Honestly...
I think all lives are charmed,
but need the right perspective...
Thought provoking ink Faith...
(Nice avatar...
You look way more beautiful
than the beautiful people....

Best comment I've read here tonight. I'm ugly as a post but now that I'm nearly 80 I no longer give a rat's asterisk. Been with some really beautiful women but, omg, give me Plain Jane any old day. So much more interesting and easy, comfortable to be with.
I thought it was a very good poem.

Barbies are all so pretty aren't they. As a young girl, I wanted so much to look like one. Anyway , good read, Faith,

Yes, they were beautiful! Once, during a visit from my Uncle Butchie, he asked me what kind of outfit I wanted him to make for my Barbie. He was shocked when I said I wanted her to be dressed like a Catholic nun! He then laughed until he cried. I told him it wasn't such a ridiculous request since I wanted to become a nun in the future. He then gave in and turned my Barbe doll into a nun.
Thank you so much for reading and responding to my poem It's
Great seeing you!

Re. Barbie
Just one question: Did you check to see if she was still wearing her price tag?
I like that this poem gets right to the heart of it. No messing around. You're on it and Barbie ain't got a chance. When I run into a Barbie (and I've been in relationships with more than my share), I like to think of that line from "Blue Girls":
"...Practice your beauty, Blue Girls, before it fail
For I could tell you a story which is true:
I know a lovely lady, blear eyes fallen from blue
And yet it is not long since she was lovelier
Than any of you."
--John Crowe Ransom
(That's not perfectly recalled, but close.)
You are related to Brigham Young I take it? I've read his biography plus the Joseph Smith, "No Man Knows My History."
Excellent write. TY.
