The Struggle Of Me

This was for the 'In A Name' Competition

Had I only the courage
A hand steadier than this
Never failing to end this ache
Never failing at all
And leaving me with a strong grip
Handling my pain every day I wake

Love is around me I’m told
Over my shoulder
Under my bed when I’m scared
Inside my mind when I’m confused
So why can I not see it
Every time I need it and I’m laid bare

Why I struggle
How I can find such a thing difficult
I just don’t know
To tell the truth through hurting eyes
Each effort is a knock to my heart
Leaving me unsheltered
Either by my close ones or the distant
Yet they continue to tell me otherwise
