From your author's note Chief Justice Parker should not be anywhere near to pronouncing his views based on his religion. That view only applies to the failing ability to understand religion.

Not so much as can be seen in the USA fortunately
Guns are available in the UK but not as easily as the NRA wants to give US citizens the ability to shoot off a whole magazine into a classroom and the reload while teachers give their lives to protect their pupils but this is not seen as a religious outcome
