So Soon

When I met a world so filled
with sweet cream and tasty shiny things,
was I wrong to want so much of it so soon?

The endowments we brought into the world from our births
were nurtured by our mothers' sacrifice and love.
And when it was time (or too soon), our virgin beauty
was easily given and graciously received.
I’m still thankful for the gifts of the flesh
and pray that my daughter will one day
share her gifts in grace and beauty.

Author's Note
I saw a mom kissing her child and it sent my mind in this direction. Seems strange have thoughts about these aspects in my daughter's life but I suppose it's to be expected as she grows inside of me.
