Love In a Barrel

Decades ago a man was in love with a woman
he would do crazy acts to seek her attention
he was a daredevil
he's faced death numerous times
he's played chicken with trains,
jumped off bridges and survived the plunge,
climbed skyscrapers,
and even imitated some of Houdini's work
nevertheless he was crazy, but good at what he did
one day he told his girlfriend that he was going to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel
she told him you're insane
if you do this you could die and we'll never have a life together
his mind was made up and told her everything will be planned accordingly
one summer day he had a film crew filming the event
spectators and his girlfriend looked on
and he went over,
he survived the barrel ride
he nearly broke every bone in his body
at first his girlfriend was extremely mad and wouldn't talk to him for days
one day she came to the hospital and apologized to him
he also apologized to her and swore to her that he would never do a death defying act like that ever again
he made a full recovery
a few weeks later over dinner at a restaurant he proposed to her
she accepted
they were to be wed on Valentine's Day next year
he published a book of all his daring and suicidal acts
it became a best seller
he went on traveling throughout the US, thrilling audiences with tales of his adventures
on his last day of his nationwide tour and one week before he was to wed his wife,
he was leaving the hotel to catch a cab,
where he suffered a fatal injury
he slipped on a banana peel
the side of his head hit the concrete curb killing him instantly
she decided to have the funeral on Valentine's Day.
