Being a Man

I see a lot of boys that's constantly being mislead
Hearing a lot of noise that makes them have a big head
Thinking they got it all together by what's in their vision
Sinking & fall into whatever that grabs their attention

Pretty girls in love wit da gangsta lean, da vicious thug lifestyle
a bright smile to da drug money, party with da night crowd
Breaking down Swishers & White Owls next to da cocaine white pile
no patience for education cause they tryna chase dat bag right now

Luxurious & fast cars with wet paint rolling on shiny wheels
gold chains and rings, clothes of brand names that esteems gaining an almighty fulfill

(You know what else I see? I'll tell ya)

Men that did this at a young age and still involved in the same activities
been in da young cage to da king pen steel bars & their homies don't have sympathy
More & more teens fade away before da major wave on graduation day
cause they hustled to make a pay then bullets strayed a prey

Or HIV & Aids that some groupie gave away
Probably didn't have family so gangbangers made a way
What I'm tryna say today is we need to demonstrate and elevate on what being a man all about
Stand with a masculine stance showing who wear da pants fitted around our waist

Pull em up G, put them guns down...a countless of juveniles dumbfound over dumb ish, their moronic pride furnished numbness, demolished dreams, and broken promises

Us men must live wise & righteous, have a positive cognitive
Be responsible & postive role models to our children
Lead and let those follow us like Christians
No hiding the truth like shivering hostages

And please men this is needed! Show how a lady suppose to be treated
Same as his mother, to his sister as a protective brother then da young eyes and ears will retrieve it
Be a man's friend, help him to become the best version of himself
Be his right hand man da best u can when he feels there's nothing left

Honor the Word of God, armor the stir of flaw...so what if people call you a square
Stand alone in firm respect, loyalty, and other morals but bro be aware........

That's just called Being a Man!

Author's Note
This poem is to send a message to many men that's not giving good influence in young lives today. This a letter to myself too. Way too many young men losing their lives to the street life. No father figure to show them how to prosper in life. I wrote this piece of creativity nonfictional art alone in a room with this on my mind, heart, and soul. By me, Kelvin Winslow known as Mr. Word Play.
