Image for the poem Loveth thou Me

Loveth thou Me

my love for thee doth burn
alas, no answering love from thee
for thy embrace my heart doth yearn
from thy presence I shall not flee

unrequited, mine heart remains untouched
for thou, my love, dost not share concern
I know not where thy heart attached
or doth thou conspire to let me burn

Cruel fate why dost thou mock me
to live to laugh and love in vain
trace I the pain of Juliet or Romeo
why dost thou bind me to this pain

my love, thine eyes so bright
yet for me naught but silent tears
as thy arms embrace another tight
thou see not my love for all the years

no false kisses, heed me not for ever more
love's true essence lies in hope, most dear
