Image for the poem Embracing Self

Embracing Self

independence sprouts from a seed
that wants to be rid of its shell
it wants to burst out from its pod
to be out to live away from the cell

growing up and fending for oneself
is where the self-reliance starts to grow
like a life where everything seems personal
yet being able to reflect every glow

the thought of wanting to be free
from the shackles of norm
from every regiment that used to be
shouts for the need for independence

relying on oneself allows learning and growth
to push and enjoy capabilities discovered
and many possibilities yet to be known
if one  dares for potentials to be unleashed

And I stand here a testament
of ambitions falling short of expectations
