Some low slung February sun
tried to warm the afternoon breeze
by having fresh vortical fun
on its way through the neighborhood trees
It was a frisky sky today
daring me to stop and stare
and to stay awhile and play
in the finest midwinter air
And so I watched the branches dance
and birdshadow race through the grass
to stop and sing birdsong romance
for fledgling flights at outdoor class
I saw the squirrels come and go
and at the birdbath take a sip
in backlit sunbeam ripple glow
at every whisker twitching drip
But soon enough I packed it in
as the sun was starting to set
on the yang I had for nature yin...
and the wind chimes of no regret
tried to warm the afternoon breeze
by having fresh vortical fun
on its way through the neighborhood trees
It was a frisky sky today
daring me to stop and stare
and to stay awhile and play
in the finest midwinter air
And so I watched the branches dance
and birdshadow race through the grass
to stop and sing birdsong romance
for fledgling flights at outdoor class
I saw the squirrels come and go
and at the birdbath take a sip
in backlit sunbeam ripple glow
at every whisker twitching drip
But soon enough I packed it in
as the sun was starting to set
on the yang I had for nature yin...
and the wind chimes of no regret
