WHY DO WE KISS?
This is a personal question
each person tries to answer;
in answering this question
I have a few answers:
We know there are all
kinds of kisses: Friendship
kisses. parental kisses.
cultural and respect kisses.
and the list goes on.
But then there is the
erotic or sensual kiss,
that the vast majority
of cultures around the
world engage it. WHY?
Why would two human beings
press their lips together;
why would the scent
from recent meals and
taste of saliva be such
and honorable and sought practice?
Why do we do "crazy things"
because of kisses?
A kiss brings us into a
close physical togetherness;
close enough to feel, smell
and taste the other person's
uniqueness. There is no
limit to the physical location
where kisses may be exchanged.
Some Psychologists tell us
that kissing has a sensual
element that attracts
one person to another.
Hormonal responses occur
when lips and mouths meet;
including the tongue.
Sometimes we meet a stranger
and for some unknown reason
we wonder what it would
be like to kiss the person;
arousal starts in our bodies.
Even a picture or poetic writing
may create that wonder or desire.
A kiss is an invitation to share,
trust, experience closeness
and intimacy with another person;
when we kiss we share personal space
that makes us vulnerable to sharing
an agreed to kiss. A kiss leads
to oneness and closing of personal space.
Kisses have a mind of their
own and venture to other
places on the body of a
desired partner, friend, or lover.
With a mind of their own
they travel from nose to toes,
exempting no place on the body.
