Middle States


Was it in Iowa, a beautiful state with rivers and lakes  
that Trump won 50%of the votes, or was I wrong it
might have been Idaho, where great spuds are grown
and that is the problem, this vast expanse of land
in the heart of America, yet unknown to the many who
think America is New York and Los Angeles.
When I think of the people of that many states unknown,
yet are the places to decide an election.
I try to make a mental picture of a typical mid-western person
first, he is hard-working and calls his father sir
 eager to help with
Mechanical things around the house.
He tends to eat a lot, his mother always fed him well, making him a strong young man
He is a Christian in the remarkable American way: Sure, I donate to the church and believe in Jesus
He is conservative, a man who thinks his country is
the best in the world (it is), and supports American intervention in the Far East, based on the information he has
which are based on propaganda.
Living in the middle of America, he has been shielded from news
that has an alternative to his information, it takes a long time
to turn, when he does, you do get Trump.
