Make a Stand
When governments don't care
how her people fare
feeding off need
kicking us to our knees
then people must care for each other
sister, brother, mother
we all bleed red
humanity is a beachhead
in endless wars for the crown
that are wearing us down
every day
every single day
we fight to survive
giving up hopes to thrive
we are forged, tempered, and tested
pain and tragedy ingested
there is just one way out
of our spiritual drought
stop
simply stop
fighting for religion, creed or greed
love will grow like a weed
fed by our blood
and mixed into mud
stepped on, dug up, and sprayed
love becomes a blade
that's how we fight back
fending off attack after attack
we make a stand
not by raising an angry hand
but by honoring our shared humanity

The best thing about America is freedom however fragile. The worst thing is how divided we all are now as a people. Bad management in people and presidents.
The only thing I liked about George W. Bush was his ever consuming lust for freedom. He listened to the wrong people but he was right about the luxury of living in a free country albeit at a price of course.
The truth is I stopped watching the news. I catch stuff on the fly and stay pretty informed. I worked in broadcasting for 25 years at 2 major tv networks. I wasn't in the news division but it bleeds over when you work there.. I switched careers mid-stream and went on the road selling lumber to a specialty customer base. You know what ?
The wood doesn't lie. It's either good, medium or horrible. Little politics ...
I read your write several times. I'm an older buck like you. I still have passion and while I think America is in a shit hole phase I want to believe within the scope that good somehow could prevail. Freedom IS EVERYTHING despite the warts ....

We are in the age of corporate imperialism, when corporations buy and sell countries as if on the stock exchange, and we are facing a hostile Wall Street-eque takeover of this country as well. And the first thing that happens after a hostile takeover is the selling off of assets that have no value. Personal freedom and our rights are the assets being sold off right now and I'm too tired to care. All I know is that left vs right has never been the fight, just the distraction while our country was sold from under our feet.
So, I intend to enjoy what little freedom is left in this country, for as long as I can, and find people that feel the same. The only thing corporations can't buy are people's hopes and dreams of a shared humanity. My life goal is really simple now.
