Stay With Me
It’s 3am, and I’m wide awake
I just can’t seem to catch a break
The past was then; the present’s now
What can I do to feel safe and sound?
Everyone says it’s all in my mind
Is that why I’ve been walking blind?
My shoulders are hunched over with this pressing weight
I’ve left home long ago; would life have been better had I just stayed?
Stay with me; don’t ever let me go
I’m helpless in the water; will I sink or will I float?
Life’s coloured in multiple shades; it’s not just black and white
This internal war I’m enduring through has no sense of what’s wrong or right.
The sun’s finally rising yet I haven’t slept
Too caught up in a whirlwind of guilt and regret
Everyone says it’s the darkest just before the dawn
I’ve never been good at opening up; guess that’s why I wrote this song.
Stay with me; don’t ever let me go
I’m helpless in the water; will I sink or will I float?
Life’s coloured in multiple shades; it’s not just black and white
This internal war I’m enduring through has no sense of what’s wrong or right.
Stay with me; stay with me
I’m here pleading on my hands and knees
I can’t see you, but I can feel you in my heart
You’re the living light in a world that’s gone dark.
