Sorrowful Understanding

 
I am happiest in my sadness
my melancholy understood
it clothes my soul

my vulnerabilty doesn't shine as bright
and I can be taken in small doses
too much honesty can drive someone away
too little and they feel betrayed

such a balance we must keep
sacred kinship knowing each others needs
we wander the earth touching minds
mindful of the people we know
careful with the ones we don't

desirous a view of knowledge
so we can grow wise
and so it is sorrow flavors the soul beautifully
