Growing up

It's hard to sleep with a full mind
and empty stomach, I'm sure you'll find
that what I'm saying to be true.
Growing up, missing every social cue,
being the weirdo, the outcast, the misfit
always asking yourself "Will this fit?"
to everything in your closet because of doubt.
Yes it's truly difficult to figure out
when growing pains stop
and adult pains begin to pop
like the joints of your knees and elbows,
how life feels like a game nobody knows
the rules too, and we just make it up
when kids become rude and say 'sup?
You feel old and out of place
trying to age with grace
but nobody taught you how to do it
so in the end you say screw it
and throw caution to the wind
and forget how your body doesn't bend
like it did ten years prior
and that death is making you out to be a liar.
You now fear the reaper
and you are no longer your brothers keeper,
growing up seemed fun
until you could no longer run
with the swift self-assured pace of youth,
growing up is really just facing the truth.
