Stones

We are the stones that get you to where
you need to be. Don't worry, don't care
we're subhuman, subpar specimens
far removed from your gene pool regimens.
We have dirty nails and dirtier souls,
you have dirty money that helps with control
you'll never know my name or my story
but that is just par for the price of glory.
We don't have the best or the latest
and our education isn't always the greatest
no indeed, we are the worker bees
working for a queen we'll never please
but such is our lot in this play we call life
where reality is sharper than any knife.
We keep it all running while you play,
adults tired while the children never go gray.
Yes indeed, we will not be in the annals
but our blood flows through time's channels.
