Forever Is Never Long Enough
Winter peaked her head in,
now it's lonesome and cold.
I had a head full of dreams,
forever was a word I was told.
But this new harsh season
came snowing in.
The only words I remember
to this story are "The End".
I'll try and keep myself warm
and wait for spring to come
if I survive this frigid weather
and keep my toes from going numb.
This jacket wrapped around me
is nothing compared to his warmth.
I miss the days of sunny weather,
now cold winds blow from the north.
But forever keeps ticking by,
minutes turn to hours in this freeze.
I always dreamt of the day
he would bend down on one knee,
so I pray for sunny days to come
because seasons don't last forever.
This frosty cold air
will turn to better weather.
now it's lonesome and cold.
I had a head full of dreams,
forever was a word I was told.

A melodramatic dreams wrapped in furry hopes, wish they get warm in Spring.
Nice start, stay safe.

He may pop that question, but not on one knee. Maybe both have to wait and till then, stay warm.

This is about a past love. We spent seasons together, and now that question will never be asked. Warmer days will come around though.

Dear M,
You capture depressive feelings exceedingly well. The weather as reality and metaphorically within this piece play together very nicely. Nothing lasts forever, might feel like it but change is inevitable. Wonderful write. H🌷

Welcome to DUP.
The poem reads topically as we approach the threshold of winter, it gives a positive perspective that better weather seasons are coming.

The title of this piece caught my attention (I had a similar title) but it feels like these are polar opposites. The season does offer some cold, unsure paths when in this situation. Hope it's gotten better.
Great work.
