Cave art Revisited
The silence of my paper white
sets me to pace the floor,
those weighty words which will not write
but i can hear them roar.
Roaring out from within my bones
my flesh and sinew too,
a struggling out of ancient tones
in pastel shaded hues.
Those colour sounds of stone-age folk
crafted onto cave walls,
the woolly mammoth the great auk
now echo from great halls.
Down forty thousand silent years
the world heard, not a chord,
now hear and see extinct cave bears
I hear, I applaud.
sets me to pace the floor,
those weighty words which will not write
but i can hear them roar.
Roaring out from within my bones
my flesh and sinew too,
a struggling out of ancient tones
in pastel shaded hues.
Those colour sounds of stone-age folk
crafted onto cave walls,
the woolly mammoth the great auk
now echo from great halls.
Down forty thousand silent years
the world heard, not a chord,
now hear and see extinct cave bears
I hear, I applaud.
