The Facebook Voyeur

The Facebook Voyeur
By Michael McManus

He lingers on Facebook's digital street,
A voyeur, silent, in his quiet seat,
No posts to share, no words to convey,
He watches from shadows, night and day.

Invisible, he scrolls through each friend's life,
A silent spectator, free from strife,
He learns their stories, their joys, and despair,
A Facebook voyeur, no content to share.

Author's Note
Facebook is supposed to be a communicative, community social media but I get irritated by those who say nothing but just read others posts/ stories. This irritation extends to face to face communication too. Why did they come to the table? They have nothing to say! While I understand there can be genuine reasons for lack of participation, it still irritates - which may say something about me too. The portrait sketch is of an imaginary Facebook Voyeur, sketched in graphite by me.
