Alien Baggage
In a blood crush of all or nothing
the ghost of your dream flew in
stared at my fool in the mirror
and asked me where I'd been
The cruelest years were heartless
as I grew deaf to their call
and after so long apart
I felt I had no heart at all
So what is it you seek from me
in my desert of tears and dust
where twilight taunts the sun
and the candle's almost snuffed
She threw back her head and smiled
hair like shining gold
sighed I want to have your child
before we grow too old
Outside the rain kept falling
and the fire was burning low
she slipped out of her spacesuit
and said: Here's all you need to know
I sensed the spirits watching
as our fates became entwined
Come the morning she was gone
though our souls were realigned
The scars we carry with us
can bind like prison bars
but Earth's mountains might not crumble
before she's colonizing Mars
the ghost of your dream flew in
stared at my fool in the mirror
and asked me where I'd been
The cruelest years were heartless
as I grew deaf to their call
and after so long apart
I felt I had no heart at all
So what is it you seek from me
in my desert of tears and dust
where twilight taunts the sun
and the candle's almost snuffed
She threw back her head and smiled
hair like shining gold
sighed I want to have your child
before we grow too old
Outside the rain kept falling
and the fire was burning low
she slipped out of her spacesuit
and said: Here's all you need to know
I sensed the spirits watching
as our fates became entwined
Come the morning she was gone
though our souls were realigned
The scars we carry with us
can bind like prison bars
but Earth's mountains might not crumble
before she's colonizing Mars
