Image for the poem Remains

Remains

See how our bodies
gyrate through the night
never tiring as they seek
release from tortured longings.

The shiny bodies are
beautiful and worthy
of our lusts, but even
our kindest childhood
smiles are reduced to ash.

Even the whimpered
sighs of our sweetest
unions will one day
be silenced as we
surrender all that we were
to the flames.
