Interesting to see this translation of the verse you quote. I am more familiar with this translation, which was made into an anthem by English composer John Ireland:
"For love is strong as death, its jealousy unyielding like the grave,,,Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it."

An interesting read,isn't it? The Songs I mean! Very well done and I believe every different translation ends up applauding that finesse.
