Lessons Lost

As brute conflict comes to tests
Some children study so,
Most lessons mourn what infests
Schools of thought that know
Such remain what bounties buy
For hunts full hate made
When challenge and choice allied
With anger betrayed.

The course conscience does deflect
Might obey the means
Of guarded honor ilk expects
Of crude conscious seen
To corrupt teachings in halls
That relished reward
The past paid to pages of palls
Where what evil lured.

When warring passions collide
With desired deeds wanted,
Mere minds honor and abide
By orders that haunted
Those souls subject to loss’ sound
That portrays pains fed
To the festered grief to ground
The wicked acts they bled.

But bells ring and ire dismisses
Lessons tomes had taught
Fertile faces drawn so amiss
By doings some sought
To gain what was thought their due,
To absolve their acts,
And divine a day pursued
By safety from facts.
