The Chain

To be alone
Or be lonely?
Without others
Or without a connection?
Somewhere along the chain
The link is broken
Ever since then
The chain has fallen
Hanging loose
Looking to be mended
It swings back and forth
Sometimes almost close enough to reattach
Then breaking free
The connection lost
Over time becoming rusted
Once shiny and new
The chain is tarnished with pieces missing
Loops losing strength
Getting tangled
Getting twisted
The chain of life
Or human interaction
