listening to an old song on F.M. radio
It really doesn't take
much to imagine one's
self sitting beneath a
pleasant sky
eyes taking in
nothing
ears on
vacation
the mind emptying
dreams like an
overturned
goblet
inviting time to
take the rest
of your days
as the worm
takes the apple
thinking about old
songs on F.M.
radio
the first time someone
let you enter the
palace of their
body
you and a friend
smoking a joint
on a rangy
summer's
evening
then hitting up a
favorite burger
place for the
weekly special
falling in
love
falling out
of love
again and again
and again and
again
15, 20, 25, 30
35, 40, 45, 50,
55, 60...soon
65 years
passing
questions asked
never answered
making more
questions
now sitting here
beneath a
pleasant
sky
knowing
with a little ingenuity
and luck, we will
all get
here
someday
