The Boa Constrictor

The boa constrictor grips
thick muscle contracts
clamping, controlling, subduing

Pressing into every gap
each pocket squeezed
all movement stifled

The lifeless corpse swallowed whole
it’s energy stolen
It’s light extinguished

The boa constrictor lays still
awaiting another free roamer
to wander over dangerous ground
