A Civilian Salute

The red, the white, the blue
The patriotic few
That gave their life, fight and die
So we can smile, though mothers cry

Wars are fought
Wars are lost
Wars are won
But at what cost

It's painted on their faces
With camo and expression
They fought to free torn places
To save from domestic oppression
