Faye

I don't trust myself with you
Your beauty like the dripping of forests leaves
After the burst of summer rain
The leaves now deeper green and glistening
Beneath the forest eves
With a pitter pat of water
Dripping leaf to leaf
In the stillness of the air
Swept clean with freshening breeze
Deep scented with wet wood and humus
As sun breaks through in scattered beams
Dappling forest floor
As grey clouds drift away
Playful in the half light
And drinking in the shadows
Lies the forest watchful
So like the dancing of your eyes

So beautiful to me
As if you alone could be perfection
Of every thought the heart conceived
The mystery of shadow into light revealed
The true home where forest path leads
Do you wander amid the woodlands
Like the Faye amongst the trees
Lithe and fair
With ethereal air
As if high born set apart
I know of a fairy circle
And a moon pool that reflects the stars
Of paths that wind and wend their way
Where deepest shadows are

Do you dance there in the moonlight
Do you sing lost songs of stars
Teach me of wood craft magic
Such as found within your heart
Swim dark pools in covert glades
Water glistening on our skin
Lead me to mossy stone circle
To consumate our hearts
Let me revel in the Faye in you
And let my heart believe
