In the dust
In the dust
The dams fracture,
rivers break,
overlap banks
and flood
every field,
every house,
every towerblock,
every car
so there is no more hiding in the shadows,
in parched cracks between paving stones,
no more
sustaining without care -
no more
making myself small to fit your scope.
You see
a goddess doesn't meddle with cowards.
I burn that bitterness out of me,
burn out the darkness of an idea,
burn concepts of love ever expanding.
I let the tribe hold me
because I am
my own light.
I am
the love of my own life.
We walk bare foot
through verdant oceans renewed,
fire a beacon for others full hearted,
willing, open, honest, free.
We call, we drum, we howl
and together we escape that abyss,
that void
for some more hopeful future -
And I don't look back,
and I will never look back,
there's no reason to ever again.
The dams fracture,
rivers break,
overlap banks
and flood
every field,
every house,
every towerblock,
every car
so there is no more hiding in the shadows,
in parched cracks between paving stones,
no more
sustaining without care -
no more
making myself small to fit your scope.
You see
a goddess doesn't meddle with cowards.
I burn that bitterness out of me,
burn out the darkness of an idea,
burn concepts of love ever expanding.
I let the tribe hold me
