Mortis Apprehéndite
Sirens rebound,
resound,
echo in the emptiness
all around.
Someone whispers,
"Mortem"
in my ear.
Ambulance rushes by,
woman is bleeding
on the gurney.
She says softly,
"Dolorem"
Everything is dying,
everybody is lying,
crying,
why do we continue
fighting?
My heart sighs,
"Deditionem"
Death is beckoning me close
like it has down to others.
Chilled embrace,
skeletal fingers tangled in
my hair.
He pulls me closer with his scythe
and he coos to me,
"Amplecti"
Amen.
