Cheap Thrills

I wake up every morning, feeling empty with regret,
Years of my life all wasted, moments I’ll never get.

The scars and disabilities I got from serving my land,
Have left me feeling helpless and with a heavy demand.

I try to find meaning, I strive to feel happiness,
But it seems like every time, I'm left in emptiness.

So I turn to cheap thrills, to pass the time away,
It helps me forget for a moment, the sadness of each day.

But these moments are fleeting, and don't bring any peace,
I know deep down inside, that they're not the answer I seek.

I wish for a life full of joy, with laughter and love to give,
But instead I'm left with memories, that weren't meant to live.

I pray for a day when I'll find my way, out of this sea of pain,
And I’ll sail towards happiness, to live life once again.

Though the wounds may never fully heal, and my path may be unclear,
I know that hope and resilience, will guide me through each year.
