absence
When he was in my life
there was hope,
and at death's door
there was despair.
I had accepted that
there was no joy in
my eyes at all those places
where he was not there.
The boat of glasses,
wine and colorful flowers
was faded,
where there was no smile
on his lips.
Although my eyes
used to be drunk,
but i didn't get
intoxicated in his absence
I was drowned
in his love,
yet his soul
did not dissolve in me.
What should I pray
to God now?
When he is not present
in my life...
there was hope,
and at death's door
there was despair.
I had accepted that
there was no joy in
my eyes at all those places
where he was not there.
The boat of glasses,
wine and colorful flowers
was faded,
where there was no smile
on his lips.
Although my eyes
used to be drunk,
but i didn't get
intoxicated in his absence
I was drowned
in his love,
yet his soul
did not dissolve in me.
What should I pray
to God now?
When he is not present
in my life...

You are absolutely right. Living alone means constantly remembering someone left behind. Some people come in life with some purpose and some people leave after giving pain. And they leave their good and bad memories. Well thanks for reading me!

You have probably summed up a dilemma many people bereaved of past spouses are in with their faith.

Yes, of course! it is not possible to forget the memories of a close one easily. Breaking up is not easy. Well thanks for stopping by!

Melancholic and tragic. Sometimes, things in life make us question why and what, in morality. I feel like the narrator is going through dealing with the phases of accepting one's death, which is metaphorical for absence in general. Quality centrism in the flow, as it unfolds. There's a concrete sense of direction that captures your emotion. Overall, very nice. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes unexpected things happen to us, and this mostly happens when we are living the golden moments of life. Everything doesn't happen according to our wish in the life. Whatever happens has to be accepted. That's all.. so evrything is acceptable here! Well thank you for reading and for your kind response!

Time heals all wounds. When the time is right you find someone who makes you feel alive again. Keep on writing.

by potential I mean to improve upon the delivery of this poem. Not in any literal sense.
I wouldn't be qualified to comment on 'that'.
