Kindred
That time you sent me that song
out of the blue
a million years after you left
It said things
that float between us
Things that
I know I’ll never hear you say
and I guess that’s okay
But I wondered…
And I don’t understand
what it is in me
that wakes up at your words
--just behind my solar plexus--
Even though there’s so much space
and so much time
separating our realities
And it makes no sense
that my soul should leap
in recognition
at your voice
When I don’t even know
if I even know you
or ever really did
Or if your heart would
know mine
in a sea of hearts
So
I just don’t
know
what to call
this.
