Harmonious Family Dynamic - First Movement
Piano is the know-it-all
the perfect pitched progenitor
capable of replicating
a symphony of notes
on whose bench
the composer for days, months, years
sits creating masterpiece after masterpiece
till their swan song premiers
Violin is the mother
who with melodious, heartwarming
sometimes shrill voice
Is the great communicator
talking the most, keeping the pace
while doing most of the labor
Viola is the unassuming aunt
In no way braggadocious
who plays her notes faithfully
and never acts precocious
Grandfather Cello
a calming presence
whose comforting, mellow measures
Impart tranquil consolation
and inspiriting wisdom
In times of grief, happiness, and pleasure
Big daddy Bass
deep voiced patriarch
when involved,
makes himself heard
and, when needed, conjures fear
adding constancy, gravitas, foundation
realizing the composers vision
