The Miracle and Mystery of St. Eden’s Hill
Walternate Universe – GGMA-53
Though they had been unable to conceive children for a long time
Jim and Linda had been happily married for nearly twenty years
It was on Linda’s 39th birthday when they got the news
They were expecting, needless to say they were both in tears
The following Spring they a had a little girl, Clara
A year and a half later, a boy, Jimmy Jr.
Jim was a humble man, a good man, a decent person
He had a beautiful home, a beautiful family, he had all the luck
All the years of waiting seemed to have been worth it
But it was in late December of that year when disaster struck
Jim and Linda had gone out to dinner one special night
As she looked at her husband lovingly she said “I love you James”
Suddenly a line of firetrucks rushed by as they sat by the window
Later they realized, it was their home that had gone up in flames
The sitter had fallen asleep and the fire from the fireplace went unchecked
While the children, Jimmy one and Clara three, slept soundly upstairs
Suffice it to say that this tragedy completely broke Jim and Linda
It seemed as if destiny had taken everything from them and it wasn’t fair
Jim would visit the children’s graves every morning on his way to work
And every morning he’d see the same Caretaker pass by in a cart
Jimmy and Clara’s tombs were the most beautifully decorated tombs
It seemed as if the Caretaker had taken their tragic loss to heart
It was about six months later, a day right before Mother’s day
At around five in the morning there was a strange knock on their door
And as Linda looked through a window she saw two little children
When Jim came downstairs he found his wife, fainted on the floor
Jimmy Jr. and Clara were standing in front of the open door
Jim fell to his knees in shock thinking he was seeing ghosts
Then he saw a stranger in the distance walking away
It was a man who was wearing the Caretaker’s clothes
When the authorities arrived, an investigation was launched
They then discovered that the children’s graves had been disinterred
Doctors were baffled when they confirmed their identities
It was Clara and Jimmy but the children didn’t remember or said a word
Yet the cemetery had no record of that one Caretaker at all
Jim and Linda couldn’t understand any of this but nonetheless
The news called it the Miracle and Mystery of St. Eden’s Hill
But the universe had given them a second chance at happiness
