Image for the poem wabi sabi

wabi sabi

I am . . .
The plain looking me
Nothing special as you can see
An ordinary cut that can’t stand out
Like a floret from the bunch of beautiful lilies

I am . . .
A monochrome soul
With tattered wings and broken dreams
A prism of light that dwindles
And silently screams from each and every fall

I am . . .
The epitome of mediocrity
A kindred soul next to its anonymity
Who would know I exist?
None but the wind that carries me.

Yet . . .
Like each pieces of a shrouded glass
I shine through with each beads of light
I am warm soul with a kind heart
The one who nurtures and fiercely loves you.

And like a broken piece of pottery
My dents and bumps add up to my glory
A piece worth giving a chance to
A despicable soul
Quilted in the fiber of her truth

Author's Note
In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature.
