Nuts
I looked askance
Out of my window
And i could see the telegraph lines
Bouncing!
At first, i thought it was the wind
But i saw no movement of the trees
I rose from my seat
Then ventured to the window
And to my complete surprise
I espied a gang of rogue squirrels
They were heavily armed
And bright eyed, and bushy tailed
I knew this was a lethal combination
So i had to act quickly
I rushed into the other room
Armed with a broom
Which i used to pound against the lines
At first, the squirrels held tight
As they twanged up, and down
And the only noise they made
Was a loud screaming
EEK!
Two fell
Landing uncomfortably
On the trees way below
The other three turned tail, and retreated
As i yelled out the window after them
"Don't come here again, ive told you
Ive got no nuts!"
At that precise moment
A family of passers by
Who hadn't seen the squirrels
Gave me the most questioning of looks?
