“TOTO I’m tired, I’m sleepy and my feet hurt” I told my handler
“That’s on you” he said “you’ve been up for over a day and a half
You can have a couple of hours of rest here because in the morning
You are going to save the livelihood of your friends and staff”

As I walked through the dimly hallway past many other stations
Portals opened up as other people traveled in between realms
TOTO took me to a breakroom for those tired and weary travelers
It had beds and so I'd sleep for a bit until it was time to take the helm

The brace woke me up by vibrating but I needed some strong coffee
By then there was more jumper traffic at all the workstations
TOTO rushed me and had me jump through a different portal
“Come on” he said” “for this one you may have some complications…

He is the CEO of a company that employs thousands of people
He wants to make more money, retire early and so he'll sell"
“What’s wrong with that?” I asked curious about my destination
“One of the employees will become disgruntled and well…”

“How do you know all this?” I asked curiously
“We run calculations and probabilities all the time
And our predictions are almost always accurate”
Then we came to a different station as I was next in line

The portal opened in the bathroom of the office building
So I went directly to my alternate’s office to review the deal
A woman greeted surprised “I thought you were running late”
“I found a short cut” I muttered working up some nerves of steel

“The buyers are going to be here at ten” she added
“Postpone it until two” I said, “I have to make a change”
I noticed her name on the desk, she was his assistant
But I closed the door trying not to look so strange

Ten minutes later…

“Nina” I said, “Call everyone into the conference room”
“Everyone?” she asked “I don’t think we’ll fit in there”
“The rest put on phone and video but please do it quickly”
It seemed as if TOTO had the documents already prepared

The conference room was packed, they had worried faces
They had heard rumors and were sure I was there to sell
Even the men who were his closest friends were sullen
The tension was high, the air was dense it was easy to tell

“I’m not selling this company” I said hearing sighs of relief
“But I am transferring ownership of the business
This company is now becoming employee owned”
So I signed the contract for them to bear witness

There was shock, apparently my alternate is a tool
For him to share something was totally unexpected
As people cheered and cried I saw my brace blinking
I had to get out but I had to make sure this was protected

“Nina, please have management sign after my name
Then send to the attorneys and they will take it from there”
As I left the room amidst hugs and thankful handshakes
My alternate was in the elevator downstairs

When the doors opened I was already standing there
He looked surprised and bothered to see my face
I pushed him back into the elevator strong and angry
Then I pressed the hold button and stated my case

“All your life you’ve been a dick and stepped over people
Today, you’ll be loved and admired and you’ll truly be rich
Sure, you won’t be able to retire just yet but mark my words
If you do anything to these people I’ll return and make you my bitch”

I opened the elevator door again and stepped to the side
He walked out puzzled and scared but more or less confused
There was joyous cheer behind him and as he turned around
The elevator door closed, the portal opened and I left enthused
