Untitled IV
I've spent an eternity
walking through shadows,
cupping the last ember
to illuminate my dark journey.
Despair laid a heavy head
on my shoulder, whispering
sweet words of finality.
It would have been
easy to slip beneath rippling waters.
Four breaths, time spinning
through two decades of hell.
Heavy stones pulling
me into oblivion: each time
just short of death.
Re-calibrating, turning
the screw just a little tighter,
coming up for air, I have
found my meaning.
I shall always be haunted.
