The Everlasting Note

Out of the silence,
the music thrums into being.
As I awake,
layers of sound come into focus.
Snatches of melody emerge
and slowly, familiar themes unfold.
 
Throughout the day,
one song merges into another.
Like a drone,
a simple C plays on.
Honeyed yellow in hue,
its unique light
infuses each tune
with subtle positivity.
 
Motifs come and go.
Washes of cobalt and violet and emerald
reflect my mood;
creating life's soundtrack
while the everlasting note
plays on.
