Not Done Yet

To soften the blow
I’ve heard it said
“sixty’s just a number”
***albeit a big one…
I add under my breath***
optimistically I believe
sexagenarians
still can play
sing, dance have heaps of fun
eschewing the notion
that I’m nye unto death
or that I’ve crossed the border
Into “he’s had a good life” territory
for I’ve “*miles to go before I sleep”
several more chapters
to add to my story

*Robert Frost, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
