Golden Memories of Bourbon Street and Big Daddy's: Celebrating Empowerment and Entertainment
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been a part of the golden era of Bourbon Street, where the music flowed like honey and the scent of Lucky dogs filled the air. Every night was a new adventure, and I had the pleasure of meeting people from all around the world, each with their own unique story to tell.
Whether I was chatting with the famous chicken man or watching talented dancers perform on the stage, there was always something special happening. And the chance to dance alongside world-famous entertainers like Sandra Sexton and GiO was nothing short of exhilarating. The energy coursing through my body as I performed for a packed house is a feeling I will never forget.
The captivating energy on the streets made me feel like I was part of something much larger than myself, like a butterfly soaring on its wings and taking in everything around me. Even the experience of dancing on Rick's Balcony for the filming of Rag Dall by Aerosmith back in the 80s was an unforgettable thrill that remains etched in my memory.
But, without a doubt, the most memorable experience for me was meeting Freddy Kruger. It reminded me that life is meant to be lived on our own terms, and we should never let fear hold us back. Dancing at Big Daddy's was an eye-opener that reinforced this belief.
I choose to cherish these frozen memories as a celebration of the good times that Bourbon Street and Big Daddy's brought to my life. Life is too short to live in fear, and too precious to waste. The ability to live life on our own terms is a legacy worth celebrating, and I'm grateful for these wonderful memories that will stay with me forever.
Big Daddy's was truly one of a kind, and it's no surprise that countless books, movies, and videos were made about us. However, these portrayals were always from an outsider's perspective, looking in at us. Rarely were they ever told from our point of view. People don't like to hear that dancing at Big Daddy's was empowering to women; it's easier to make us victims, which we never were. We were entertainers who had a passion for dance and performing. Our experiences at Big Daddy's were empowering, not degrading, and it's time that our voices and experiences are heard and celebrated.
