Is it safe to say…
Three assertions are made by Fred Wright:
We are born with biases about God
Those biases shape our character
Everyone automatically has an opinion whether they know it or not
He offers the actions of one set of historical people as proof. He appeals to authority by quoting the Desire of Ages by Ellen G White. While technically correct, some did reject Jesus because of unbelief and hatred of his character; he misses a wider principle.
In Fred Wright’s book Behold Your God at the first chapter I was saddened to see that he did not magnify the truth about little children being of the kingdom of God and instead framed them as strangers to their Father in Heaven. There is no clear explanation for the cause of his opinion about little children, either.
”All of us were born predisposed to possess a false concept of God” - F.W.
Jesus was clear that little children are “of the kingdom” and that “their angels do always behold the face of the father” - If you asked who did they see that face in, I would reply the children they care for. Because Jesus himself said “if you have seen me you have seen the father” in we are made in His image, as Jesus was, and as little children are from birth! “For of such are the kingdom of God.”
